One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year was a pair of cooking chopsticks (several pairs, in fact!). The chopsticks are extra-long, which makes them perfect for deep-frying – you can stand farther back from the wok while turning the food. Cooking chopsticks are made of wood or bamboo instead of metal. This makes them perfect for cooking, as they won’t conduct the heat the way a metal utensil would. No burnt palms if you accidentally leave the chopsticks in the wok or over a boiling pot of noodles! Cooking chopsticks can be found in Asian markets; many cookware shops carry them as well. The bamboo cooking chopsticks in the photo are 45 cm in length (about 17 ¾ inches), and made in China by Golden Banyan.
