These shiny glutinous rice balls are filled with pork and seasonings and steamed. Pearl Balls are a popular New Year’s appetizer in Eastern China, as the round balls symbolize reunion and togetherness. Feel free to add water chestnuts or Chinese dried mushrooms to the filling if desired.
