Marvellous Mangosteen

Tuesday June 16, 2009
MangosteenKnown as the Queen of tropical fruit, mangosteen has a sweet flavor with a hint of acidity, and a texture similar to a ripe plum. While mangosteen is more commonly associated with Southeast Asian cuisine, it is grown in parts of southern China (including Hainan Island) and is one of China's most popular tropical fruit imports. In traditional Chinese medicine, mangosteen is considered to be a yin or cooling food. Until recently, mangosteen was banned in the United States due to concerns about fruit fly infestation, but now irradiated mangosteen is imported from Thailand.

To get your mangosteen in the US, you have to go liquid, and Vemma is by far the best way to go. It’s tremendously more antioxident rich than ANY of the competition, complete with a full spectrum of vitamins, major, trace, and ultra-trace minerals, aloe, and decaf green tea. Oh, and it’s considerably cheaper, and has a much better compensation plan for those that desire to start their own business. Some may have noticed Ricky Barnes sporting the Verve shirt at the US Open (a Vemma energy drink). Any questions, shoot me an email- lanier@myvemmaguy.com

Hi, thanks for the comment. The US Food and Drug Administration lifted the mangosteen ban in 2007 to allow imports of irradiated mangosteen. While it isn’t widely available, you may be able to find an Asian market that carries fresh mangosteen, depending on where you live.
