Food Trivia Question from the Oriental Oasis Newsletter

TRIVIA QUESTION: I have a number of fascinating names, ranging from "dishwater gourd" to "angled or angles luffa." Actually, I am a vegetable that is often featured in stir-fries and deep-fried dishes in China. Like tofu, I absorb the flavors of the foods I am cooked with. Even better, I am low in calories and contain Vitamin C. What am I?

TRIVIA ANSWER: Silk squash. It is also called Chinese Okra because of its similarity in taste and texture to Okra, a chief ingredient in the southern US dish gumbo.

Recipe: Stir-fried Longbeans
