Fun Food Trivia
TRIVIA QUESTION: A relative of bok choy, I am recognizable by
my small yellow flowers and medium green leaves. Stir-frying, often in
combination with sesame oil, oyster sauce, or garlic, brings out my sweet,
mustardy flavor. Nutritionally, I am rich in calcium and vitamins. What am
I?
TRIVIA ANSWER: Choy Sum. (Choy or cai is the Chinese name for
cabbage). Also known as Chinese Flowering Cabbage, Choy Sum is a very popular
Chinese vegetable. Both the stems and the leaves of choy sum are eaten, although
the stems are generally preferred. Stored in the vegetable crisper section of
the refrigerator, choy sum should last for at least a few days. It makes a nice
alternative to broccoli.
