Guide Review - Remembering Diamond Head, Remembering Hawaii

Aloha!
The subtitle of the book: "A Cookbook Memoir of Hawaii and Its Foods." Remembering Diamond Head, Remembering Hawaii is both a collection of recipes and a family memoir. Mother and daughter team Shirley Parola and Lisa Parola Gaynier ran the Diamond Head Café in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Shirley Parola was able to introduce mainlanders to the food she grew up eating in her native Hawaii. But this book is more than merely another cookbook. It is packed full with reminiscences, bits of trivia about Hawaiian food and culture, and loads of information about the exotic ingredients found in Hawaiian cooking. Anyone who has visited the Islands will recognize favorite dishes - from Coconut Rice to a complete menu for a traditional Hawaiian luau. An excellent resource for fans of fusion cuisine or anyone who wants to learn more about Hawaiian food.
