You'll often find this easy to make brown sauce accompanying popular Chinese dishes such as Beef with Broccoli.

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Preparation:

Combine the above ingredients in order and bring to a boil, stirring.

I think this recipe is fine, but...... I ""modify"" by adding water to the corn starch first and then add this slurry to the sauce. It never comes out lumpy. Also a teaspoon or two of dry sherry adds a lot of flavor to the sauce.
